Martha Stewart’s sarcastic longtime best friend, Susan Magrino, said she knows where her body is buried, speaking about the national diva at the International Association of Culinary Professionals conference at Brooklyn’s City Harvest venue last week.
Stewart explained the importance of daily phone calls to keep Magrino “on her toes” and tipped her hat to her for her loyalty through the ups and downs of maintaining her empire.
“There was construction. There was business rebuilding. There was also my boyfriend, who she didn’t let appear on Page Six,” Stewart told the crowd.
And if anyone knows them, it’s Magrino, Stewart explained.
“She knows where all the bodies are buried, like Turkey Hill and Bedford,” Ms. Stewart said of her famous enclaves.
Tucci’s and Delmonico’s owner Max Tucci introduced Stewart, who surprised Magrino by presenting him with the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The “Entertainment” author expressed how proud he was to be part of Magrino’s power roster and even recalled giving her financial advice about taking out a family loan to start the Susan Magrino Agency years ago.
“She paid her father back within a year, so I congratulated her and was very proud of her,” Stewart said. “And now, her business is growing exponentially and she has the best people working for her. I’m so proud to be a part of that organization.”
But a flair for preparing meals is one skill PR pros have yet to pick up from Stewart.
“But she’s not a cook. She knows so much about good wine and good food and chefs…Maybe after 40 years with me, she’ll start cooking and become skilled at that,” Stewart quipped.
