When it comes to holiday gifts, Martha Stewart knows best.
And American Eagle has the answer to your seasonal vacation question: “WWMD?”
The 84-year-old icon is the brand’s new face, appearing in head-to-toe denim and diamonds in the latest AE Jeans campaign.
In one image, Stewart wears an oversized denim shirt and straight jeans, with a diamond necklace visible through the opening of her button-down.
In another photo, she wears jeans with a cropped jacket and navy sweater wrapped around her shoulders, layered with a necklace and earrings featuring golden glitter.
In another scene, Stewart serves a pie made from denim scraps while wearing straight jeans, a jacket, denim Manolo Blahnik heels, and a dramatic diamond necklace and dangling drop earrings.
“This holiday season, we want nothing but the perfect fit,” the notorious perfectionist explains in a video shared by the brand.
She added, wrapping a denim gift box with a contrasting denim ribbon. “Giving generously during the holiday season is one of my greatest joys.”
The camera then zooms in and we see that the note on the card reads “To: Martha, From: Martha.”
The Instagram caption reads, “When the gift is jeans, it’s always giving. Welcome to Martha’s denim season. Let the gifting begin.”
The campaign aims to capitalize on the timeless nature of denim as a universally appealing gift.
“The holidays are a time for thoughtful gift-giving,” Stewart said in a press release, adding, “And I’ve always believed there’s nothing more useful and universally appreciated than jeans.”
And, like all Superhostess gifts, she admits it’s beautifully wrapped. “If you want to give a gift that will be worn, loved, and appreciated long after the wrapping paper is gone, give American Eagle jeans.”
The denim brand has now gone far beyond heavy cotton blue, but this holiday campaign reminds customers of its roots.
Although Stewart is perhaps outside the brand’s core demographic, he has recently been reinvigorated as a cultural icon by the younger generation who actually shop at American Eagle.
We can’t help but wonder what fellow AE Denim campaign star Sidney Sweeney has to say about Martha Stewart’s great jeans.
