Martha Stewart calls a foul on Jalen Brunson.
The lifestyle guru faced off against the New York Knicks player nearly a year after breaking his big toe in a courtside collision.
“It wasn’t your fault. It was my fault for wearing open-toed shoes,” she admitted on Branson and Josh Hart’s “Roommates Show” on Sunday.
The 84-year-old recalled: “You jumped up so fast and I remember saying, ‘Okay.'” But you didn’t realize that you hurt me. I didn’t say you hurt me. I said it was okay, but it wasn’t okay at all. ”
After the game, the cookbook author headed to Hospital for Special Surgery on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where a broken bone was confirmed.
“They named it the ‘Stewart Branson fracture,'” Stewart joked. “I took an X-ray. I’ll leave you with a picture. It was actually a break, so I feel better now anyway. It took a year to heal.”
The Emmy winner now looks back on that May night as “silly, ridiculous and funny.”
Although he has no hard feelings, Brunson said he doesn’t feel very good about the situation.
“Have you ever broken someone else’s toe?” Stewart joked, to which the 29-year-old replied: “I don’t know.”
During their chat, the two admitted that Brunson called her on FaceTime to apologize for hurting Stewart.
“And he sent a basketball for his grandson,” Stewart added.
During the Knicks’ playoff game against the Indiana Pacers on May 21 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Brunson collided with Stewart and suffered a broken toe.
Stewart spoke about the incident during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in December.
Noting that Jimmy Fallon wore strappy gold sandals to the game, the TV host warned: “Never wear open-toed shoes when you’re playing on the floor.”
Stewart also shared his thoughts on the 6-foot-2 contestant, saying, “He’s not even big…but he has big feet.”
