‘Marriage to Medicine’ star Dr. Mimi Sanders gets serious about psychoanalysis of her castmates

Dr. Mimi Sanders is no longer sitting on the sidelines.

In a new interview on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea,” the psychiatrist, who is “married to medicine,” admitted that last year he was just observing the drama, but this season has been a complete “chaos.”

From diagnosing cast members’ communication disorders to providing updates on their family life, here are the biggest takeaways from Dr. Mimi’s candid conversation.

Dr. Mimi jokingly clarified that she doesn’t formally psychoanalyze her castmates because it “costs money,” but she’s not afraid to use her professional background to “call out their behavior.”

During a recent cast trip hosted by Dr. Contessa Metcalfe (which Dr. Mimi praised as “top-notch,” despite some lingering questions about Dr. Contessa’s fashion choices), Dr. Metcalf took it upon herself to facilitate conversation when tensions were high.

“I was holding group sessions and making sure people were having appropriate facilitated conversations,” Dr. Mimi explained, noting that she intervened when she realized that not everyone was willing to solve problems.

Dr. Mimi also provided astute analysis about Toyah Bush-Harris, suggesting that Toyah seems to “thrive” when people are at odds. According to Dr. Mimi, Toyah’s tendency to insert herself into friction between Dr. Heavenly Kimes and Dr. Simone Whitmore stems from insecurity.

“Maybe Heavenly hurt her and she hasn’t healed yet,” Mimi surmised. She suggested that Toyah feels more at ease when Dr. Simone and Dr. Heavenly are fighting because, “If Simone and Heavenly get together… where do they go? I can be on my own.”

Dr. Mimi’s professional prescription for Toyah’s healing was straightforward: “Stop talking about other people…just think about yourself. There’s a lot going on at home, so don’t worry about it.”

Despite the drama, Dr. Mimi was pleased when Dr. Heavenly botched the trip, describing the dentist as a “little old lady,” which, while sometimes inappropriate, was genuinely funny.

Referring to the “he said, she said” nature of the alleged physical altercation between Dr. Heavenly and Dr. Simone, Dr. Mimi attributed the confusion to the “emotional” nature of the discussion.

“When you’re emotional, you don’t remember everything,” Dr. Mimi noted, noting that the footage showed “both parties touching” during the heated moment.

On a personal note, Dr. Mimi was upbeat when discussing her home life. She praised her husband, Steve Sanders, as a supportive partner who understands the emotional toll her profession brings. She also shared a heartwarming update about her young son Stevie.

“Stevie is doing great,” she said, revealing that therapy has helped her achieve new speech milestones. He added that viewers have thanked him for showing the reality of parenting a child with special needs. “He needs to know that because of his talent, he is no longer the smartest person in the family.”

Looking ahead to the Season 12 reunion, Dr. Mimi said she’s “spinning my head” but undaunted. “Some people don’t like confidence coming into the room,” she warned. “And that’s exactly what you’re going to get…you better deal with it.”

“Married to Medicine” airs Sundays at 9pm ET on Bravo, with new episodes streaming the next day on Peacock.
