Mark Ruffalo tells Kevin O’Leary to STFU after Billie Eilish criticism

Billie Eilish’s anti-ICE Grammy Awards speech has sparked heated debate in recent days as social media users weighed in on her comments. The latest salvo comes from Mark Ruffalo, who said in a thread to “Marty Supreme” star and “Shark Tank” host Kevin O’Leary:

“Interesting,” Ruffalo’s post continued. “You go on any show and talk shit about anything and smugly expect us to listen to you, but you dig real artists who dwarf everything you dream of to actually say something that resonates with hundreds of millions of people around the world. I’m amazed at the fantasy double standards that Kevin O’Leary lives in. You played yourself so well in ‘Marty Supreme.'”

In Marty Supreme, O’Leary plays a ruthless businessman who finances Marty Moser’s table tennis career and humiliates him in grotesque ways.

Ruffalo was responding to O’Leary’s recent criticism of Eilish’s Grammy Awards speech on Fox News. “This is the first lesson for celebrities 101: When you stand up, whether it’s a movie star or a music star or whatever, shut your mouth and just have fun,” O’Leary said.

At Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Eilish accepted the Grammy Award for Best Song with a speech that infuriated conservatives. “I don’t feel the need to be honest other than to say that I’m grateful and that no one is illegally living on stolen land,” she said. “It’s really hard to know what to say and what to do right now. I feel really hopeful being in this room. I feel like we need to keep fighting and speaking out and protesting. Our voices really matter, people matter, and fuck ICE.”

On Wednesday, her brother Finneas defended her in a thread, saying, “I see a lot of very powerful old white people getting furious over something my 24-year-old sister said in her acceptance speech.”
