Variety can be seen as Mark Ronson is set to reunite with Greta Gerwig to win the “Chronicle of Narnia” adaptation on Netflix.
Sources tell Variety that Ronson is working on music for the highly anticipated follow-up to filmmaker Barbie. Gerwig reportedly writes and directs a fantasy adventure film following the sixth novel in the CS Lewis series, The Magician’s Nephew. The cast is expected to include Meryl Streep (accidentally Ronson’s mother-in-law, and the musician is married to Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer), Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey and Carrie Mulligan.
Gerwig’s “Narnia” is a prequel to “Lion, Witch, Wardrobe” and focuses on the creation of Narnia by Aslan the Lion (voice of Streep). The film is scheduled to open at IMAX on Thanksgiving Day 2026 and will be screened two weeks before its Netflix debut at Christmas.
Ronson previously served as executive music producer for Gerwig’s “Barbie.” So he co-produced five songs, co-writes the score with Andrew Wyatt, and served as executive producer. The music has received nominations at Grammys, Golden Globes and Academy Awards. He is working on the “Narnia” project in his development of his memoir “Night People: How to Become a DJ in New York City in the 90s,” released on September 16th.
Variety previously defeated news that Plan B has chosen the “Night People” rights. Plan B’s recent successes include “F1”, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and the Netflix Limited series “Adolescence.”
