Mariah Carey still brings glitter.
While she skipped the VMAS 2025 red carpet, the music icon performed a medley of her biggest hits and took to the stage to accept the Video Vanguard Awards, the biggest honor of the evening of the Music Awards show.
She initially took the stage in a champagne-colored silk bathrobe, but quickly whipped it, pairing it with a corset gold crystal-covered bodysuit with matching sparkling boots.
However, the real star of the show was Carrie’s gem.
The five-time Grammy Award winner wore Levuma’s 204.38-carat “Rosé Ernerrel” diamond necklace and matching chandelier earrings, rated for a whopping $10 million, as the brand shares in Page 6 Styles in a press release.
And that’s not all. Carrie wore several diamond bracelets during her performance, including an Esomalia 72.15 carat cuff.
“I have one question: What was Samhill waiting for?” she said rather devoured, accepting the coveted awards announced by Ariana Grande.
She famously doesn’t believe in her birthday and in fact calls her aging an “anniversary.”
She follows in the footsteps of last year’s Video Vanguard Award winner Katy Perry, and tracks past lifetime achievement winners, including Shakira, Beyoncé, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and more.
Coincidentally, she presented LL Cool J with the exact same Vanguard Award in 1997. The rapper is holding this year’s show, airing on CBS and Paramount+.
To my surprise, this will become the first moon person of the superstar. Despite her decades-long career, she has never won one of eight awards nominated for an MTV show. Tonight she is heading for the ninth R&B video of her song “Type Dangerous.”
I hope Mimi will fill her hands and return home.
