Variety reports that Maria Zuckerman has signed a first-look producer deal with Fox Entertainment Studios.
Under the deal, Zuckerman will develop scripted series and films, as well as documentaries and nonfiction projects, including limited series and ongoing series.
“Maria is one of the most dynamic creative forces in the industry, a producer with the vision, discipline, impeccable instincts and deep relationships needed to bring extraordinary stories to life,” said Hannah Pillmer, Head of Scripts, Fox Entertainment Studios. “She has an incredible track record of identifying great storytellers and creating content that makes noise and shapes culture, which makes her the ideal partner as we continue to expand Fox’s creative footprint.”
Zuckerman’s past work includes the Emmy Award-winning HBO documentary series “100 Foot Wave,” the Oscar-nominated “Spencer,” the Emmy Award-winning feature film “Grey Gardens,” and acclaimed works such as “The Nanny,” “Theatre Camp” and “The Mauritanian.” During her career, she has collaborated with filmmakers such as Peter Morgan, Richard Curtis, Spike Lee, Stephen Frears, and David Yates.
“Fox Entertainment Studios has a clear and ambitious vision for the future of storytelling,” Zuckerman said. “We are thrilled to be working with Hannah and her team on premium, impactful projects across a variety of formats that combine bold creative vision and broad audience appeal, and to be working with a globally-minded studio that values both artistry and agility.”
Zuckerman previously served as president of Topic Studios, but left that position in 2022. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years at HBO, most recently holding the title of Executive Vice President of HBO Films.
