Madrid-based Chester Media has joined forces with Yolaperdono of Málaga to produce the documentary series “Los Chorys” (“The Chorys”), a project backed by Andalusian broadcaster Canal Sur Televisión.
“The Chorys” tells the story of a group of Spanish friends formed in the 1970s, a kind of iconic rat pack that dominated the nightlife of Marbella, South Andalusia, one of the most stunning leisure centres of the world’s jet set, for 30 years.
In advance production scheduled for delivery before the end of the following year, the “Charlies” structure suggests a business model that has been widely successful in Spanish films and television productions. This is a pan-regional co-production with support from local public broadcasters.
Jose Alberto Sanchez of Chester Media and Manuel Zimenez of Jolaperdono are producers of the series. He also directs Jiménez Núñez.
The Docu Series Project will be announced on Tuesday, September 16th as part of the Advances SideBar, the South South International Series Festival, which will be held in Cádiz, Andalusia from September 12-17th.
At 28, Yeyo Llagostera inherits from her father, the owner of the Medical Institute, of 1 billion peseta. Llagostera has gathered together three best friends of Luis Ortiz, the son of Rtve censors, Stuntman Antonio Arribas, and Jorge Morán, the son of actor Manolo Morán, to live his life to the fullest.
“It was one continuous party. They traveled around the world 14 times, smashing banks in Las Vegas and Monte Carlo, ruining some businesses, charging the Rio Carnival, burning Aristocrats, artists, businessmen and astronauts with midni oil from New York, Caracas, Gracas, Gracas and Gstaad.
“They changed the Marvela nightlife scene and became real influencers of their time,” the overview continues.
“‘Los Chorys” is a story of friendship that endures everything, an epic poem about the quest for fame, downfall and redness,” says producer-director Jiménez Núñez.
“If it’s a fictional story, we’d dismiss it as incredibly impossible. It’s full of charm, travel, parties, and overload.
Among the other protagonists, the series features Gunilla von Bismarck, the widow of Llagostera and Ortiz. The document includes Ortiz’s final interview before he died in 2024.
The documentary also registers a large, unreleased personal archive of both film and graphics provided by the main character.
Jose Alberto Sanchez, CEO of Chester Media and founder partner, managed the production and development of more than 20 feature films, including Jose Luis Garci’s Oscar nominated “El Abuero” and “You Are The One.” The company boasts extensive experience in producing feature fiction, documentary films and commercials.
Founded in 2013, Yolaperdono specializes in producing TransMedia documentary projects with social impact. Highlights include “Las Sinsombrero,” a co-produced by RTVE, consisting of three documentaries and interactive works, and “Solteronas,” supported by Canal Sur and Castilla-la Mancha Public Broadcaster CMMTV. It was acquired by Prime Video.
