Taylor Swift reached a major musical milestone this week when her new single “Opalite” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the 14th time in her career. To celebrate this feat, the singer gave fans an intimate look at the song’s creation process. She looked bare-faced for most of the merry-go-round, working on the track while wearing multiple comfy sweaters.
Her mint green sweater is from The Row and her Team USA flag sweater is from Ralph Lauren. She wore an emerald green sweater during the recording.
In the caption, Swift thanked her fans for their support and expressed her surprise at the feat. “To celebrate Hot 100 #1, here’s a little ‘Opalite’ throwback. Y’all just got this song!!” she wrote. “I can’t even express my excitement and am so touched by the love you’ve shown this song and video. To put this into perspective…in fact, since the album 1989 came out in 2014, it’s been almost 12 years since we’ve had two Hot 100 hits from one album. This is the first time we’ve ever gotten a #1! I know this is a lot of numbers, but I’m so grateful to the fans who helped make this happen by welcoming this song into your life.” With open arms, I’m seriously bouncing off the walls for this!! I just wanted to say thank you, and I might buy a giant pretzel at the mall to celebrate, iykyk 🥨🌵🪨”
“Opalite” was originally released in October as part of Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl, but she just released its music video earlier this month. Initially, she debuted the song only on Apple Music and Spotify Premium. She then added it to YouTube and released an enhanced version on Apple Music, Spotify Premium, Tidal, and Amazon Music.
