“Love Is Blind” star “Sparkle” Megan Walerias went through a “horrifying” labor and birth experience while secretly giving birth to a baby boy after the Netflix show ended.
“My labor and birth didn’t go as planned,” she told People in an interview published Sunday.
“We had planned on having an unmedicated birth in a birthing center, but after about 20 hours of labor, several complications arose and we ended up needing an emergency C-section.”
“For a moment I was scared, but as soon as I heard his screams and saw him safe, I was filled with so much love and joy,” she added. “Every part of the journey was worth it.”
Walerius announced at the Love Is Blind Season 9 reunion that she and partner Paul Wegman have welcomed a baby boy named Brooks.
Walerius, 35, explained on the show that he was introduced to Wegman through a mutual friend three months after he and his fiancée, Jordan Keltner, ended their relationship. She then became pregnant “within three months of dating” Wegman.
“We’ve definitely had our ups and downs. I wouldn’t say it’s been perfect, but Paul has been great and we’re very happy,” she revealed.
Fans began speculating about the status of Walerius’ life after Page Six published photos of an unidentified man (later revealed to be Paul) with a baby from Walerius’ Denver home on October 19th and 20th.
At the time, a witness told the US Sun that the man “appeared to be living at Megan’s house” and was “coming and going throughout the day.”
In an interview with People, the reality TV star recalled feeling “a wave of emotions all at once” when she found out she was pregnant with her first child.
“I was excited and happy, but also surprised and a little scared,” she said.
“I had been told by several doctors that it would be difficult to conceive naturally due to a congenital disease, so I was a little surprised that I got pregnant so quickly.”
The reality TV personality worried that she was “not ready to be a mother.”
“But I can confidently say that those doubts and fears now feel far away and motherhood has become my favorite and most fulfilling chapter of my life so far,” she added.
Although Walerius decided to keep her baby’s first few months private, she said she feels “relief” to be able to share the happy news of starting a family as she looks back on her journey to motherhood while navigating her new life as a public figure.
“There’s definitely a sense of relief that we can finally share this part of our lives and live normally as a family without feeling hidden,” she told the outlet.
