Nineteen92 is ready to unveil his latest magazine cover after teasing a photo shoot with “Hot Rivals” star Robbie GK on Instagram two weeks ago.
And only Variety has a first look at one of the covers and a selection of sexy photos from the digital magazine’s February issue.
In one photo, the goalie who plays Kip on the hit queer hockey series goes shirtless under a blazer, showing off his body. In another shot, he flexes his biceps while wearing an asymmetrical tank top.
The black and white portrait is by photographer and Nineteen92 Editor-in-Chief Tyler Chick. Andrew Matarazzo served as creative director, with styling by Peiwen Wang and groom by Abraham Esparza.
“He has such a great leading man look, and I think that’s really enhanced in the way we captured him,” Matarazzo says. “Watching him wear clothes that are so far outside of his own personal style and seeing his confidence grow from the beginning of filming is exactly why it’s fun to direct an actor who is willing to step outside of his usual comfort zone. Robbie is definitely starting a new chapter from now on.”

“Heated Rivals” catapulted its four male leads, Hudson Williams, Conor Storey, Francois Arnault and G.K., to stardom within weeks of HBO Max acquiring the series from Canadian streamer Crave and premiering the first two episodes over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The show follows the secret 10-year affair between hockey champion Elijah (Story) and Shane (Williams). In the third episode, professional hockey player Scott (Arnaud) kisses Kip on the rink and comes out of the closet after his team wins the Stanley Cup.

“With Nineteen92, we took a lot of inspiration from old masters like Albert Watson and Peter Lindbergh, and when I teamed up with Andrew, he really understood the uniqueness of expressing a person’s soul in their work,” Chick said. “I want to capture people’s humanity, not airbrush it away. Our humanity is so precious and filtered out so much these days that I want to look back on this project as something that’s truly honest and captures who artists are at this moment in time.”
“Heated Rivalry” is based on the queer hockey romance novel series “Game Changer” by Rachel Reid. Series creator Jacob Tierney has yet to reveal the story for Season 2, but Reed told me in December that he hopes to see more of Scott and Kip, as they are popular among fans of the show.
