Lisa Kudrow didn’t try Botox until she was 60, but now that she’s 62, she’s “probably done with it.”
“I think that’s what caused the inflammation in my eyes and this weird markings on my forehead,” the “Friends” star told The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview anchored in HBO’s highly anticipated third season, “The Comeback.”
“I’m nervous that I’ll have to look like my grandmother someday, but I’m looking forward to playing an older role.”
Kudrow joins fellow stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Khloe Kardashian in speaking out against injectable wrinkle-reducing drugs, all of whom say they have never tried Botox or have stopped using it.
Other celebrities, including Amanda Seyfried and Candace Cameron Bure, also swear by the injections for keeping them feeling fresh and youthful.
And don’t expect Mr. Kudrow to go under the knife anytime soon. She spoke about her concerns about plastic surgery on a 2024 episode of Dax Shepard and Monica Padman’s podcast Armchair Expert, saying, “I don’t criticize anyone for having plastic surgery. A lot of people look great, but if the plastic surgery doesn’t heal properly, I’m worried that[I’ll]look older and different.”
Although it is a parody, “Comeback” is like art imitating life. Perhaps not just for Kudrow, but for other Hollywood stars who are trying to make a comeback late in their careers and feel like they’re throwing wet noodles at a wall in order to stay relevant.
This will be the final season of the HBO show, which first aired in 2005 but had low ratings and was canceled after season 2 in 2014. Since then, the show has developed a cult following, with network executives leading the charge to cancel the series.
Season 2 earned Kudrow both Emmy and Critics’ Choice Award nominations for Best Actress.
“The most respectful thing we can do for the audience and the characters is to tell the story in three parts. This is a trilogy and this is it,” Kudrow told THR.
