To complete the memoir, Riley, the sole trustee of Lisamary’s property and owner of Graceland, the family home, listened to tapes of memories recorded by her mother. Among them, Lisa Marie spoke about her parents, Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Her romantic relationship. Maternal Balm; The devastating death of son Benjamin, Riley’s brother. And then the birth of Tupelo’s redid, the three-year-old daughter of her granddaughter, Riley.
“My mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, so she was constantly spoken, argued and dissected,” Riley told people at the time. “What she wanted to do in her memoir is to go under the idea of her magazine headlines and reveal the heart of who she is.”

Riley said her goal was to give her mother “3D human, the best mother, the wild child, the intense friend, the underrated artist, Frank, trauma, joy, sadness, she wants to voice and give her a voice throughout her amazing life.”
Riley hoped that by sharing her mother’s ups and downs, she could help people feel alone in her struggles.
“In exceptional circumstances, I hope people are related to love, heartbreak, loss, addiction, and very human experiences of family,” she said. “(My mother) wanted to write a book in the hope that someone could read her stories and relate to her and find out they weren’t alone in the world. Her hope in this book was mere human connection.
