“The Librarians” released its official trailer ahead of its global release this fall.
The “librarian,” directed by Kim A. Snyder, is a documentary following a librarian in a small town in Granbury, Texas, finds himself at the heart of a massive movement to protect intellectual freedom of information as he fights the ban on legislative books in his hometown.
“When we began this journey three and a half years ago, we were impressed by the courage to become a diverse cast of inspiring patriots who fight at great risk to protect our first right to amendment,” Snyder said. “Our vision has evolved to create a mosaic that weaves together stories set against the backdrop of historically unique times. This is ingrained in archive references, original scores by Nicommuly, and references to our biggest, challenging book.”
The film is scheduled for a two-week run at the New York Film Forum starting October 3, with a week at Renmulu Royal from October 10th to October 10th, followed by a nationwide rollout led by eight tops in more than 40 cities across the country.
The tour will also include special screenings and city hall conversations in collaboration with local libraries and community groups across the country that are affected by censorship efforts.
Dogwoof, which deals in international sales of films, will release films at selected cinemas in the UK and Ireland starting September 26th. The film will air on an independent lens with the BBC’s Storyville Strand later in the season. Supporters of theatre, broadcast and social impact spaces, including a cohort of organizations defending freedom of reading, including Film Forum, PBS’s Independent Lens, Loco Film, Canopy, Pen America, American Library Association, Penguin Random House and more.
The film was produced by Snyder, Janique L. Robillard (“Death by Numbers”), Maria Cuomo Cole (“Newtown” and “The Hunting Ground”), and Jana Edelbaum (“Beyond Utopia”). Sarah Jessica Parker executive produced through her cute matches.
