Leighton Meester has revealed the secrets of her 12-year marriage to Adam Brody – and it’s very relatable.
“It’s so funny because somebody asked me that the other night and I was like, ‘I wish I could answer that.'[But]I think it’s important to just like each other and get along,” the 39-year-old actress told People magazine in an interview published Saturday.
“It’s just on a basic level, like, ‘I really like this person,'” Meester said.
“I think it’s (important) to be around other people and know that they’re imperfect and will challenge you, and that you’re far from perfect,” she told the outlet, adding that it’s also important to “always be open and willing to work on yourself.”
The pair, who both started their careers as teen actors on TV shows such as Gossip Girl and The OC, have spent a lot of time together in their home and work lives and have starred together in several films over the years.
In addition to the films “River Wild” and “Life Partners,” the couple also co-starred in the TV series “Nobody Wants This” and “Good Cop/Bad Cop.”
Brody, 46, who won the 2025 Critics Choice Award for his role in the Netflix series, last gave fans a glimpse of his love for his “beloved” wife during his acceptance speech last February.
“Thank you for sharing this life with me and this journey. Thank you to our family. I love you with all my heart,” he said at the time, according to a video shared online by The Hollywood Reporter.
The pair’s passionate kiss at the award ceremony was captured on camera, sealing their victory.
Meester and Brody met on the set of the movie Orange in 2011 and went public with their relationship in 2013.
The two announced their engagement in November 2013 and married in February 2014.
The couple have two children: a daughter, Arlo, born in 2015, and a son (whose name has not yet been released) born in 2020.
