LeBron James says goodbye to basketball when the time comes.
The Los Angeles Lakers star, 40, spoke with the media at a press conference on Monday, September 29th. Meanwhile, he told him whether he would extend his time in the NBA enough to share the court with his son Blythe.
The 18-year-old college freshman is currently playing basketball at the University of Arizona.

His father told reporters with a laugh, “I’m not sitting here. No, I’m not waiting for Blythe.”
LeBron did not completely close the door to the possibility of sharing the court with Blythe, but his current outlook was attributed to time.
“I don’t know what his timeline is,” the three fathers said. “He’s his own young man now. He’s in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year as you know, next year, but he has his own timeline.”
He continued: “I got the timeline and I don’t know if they match pretty well, but we’ll see.”

LeBron is the eve of his 23rd season on NBA-Record. In July 2024, LeBron re-signed with the Lakers and shared the court with his eldest son, Bronnie, 20.
That October, the father-son duo made history when they played for the Lakers and played against the Phoenix Suns in preseason games. Matchup was marked for the first time that a father and son played together in any NBA game.
A few days later, they were able to share the court again during their regular NBA season matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Whether they can share courtrooms for the second season is something they “really don’t talk,” Bronney told reporters in July.

“When that comes up, I think he’s just telling you not to worry about it and not to pay attention to it (and) lock you up in what’s going on right now,” he said. “That makes me better and keeps me focused. I think it’s good to tell me not to pay attention to such things.”
The Lakers’ 2025-2026 season begins on Tuesday, October 21st at 10pm for NBC, playing the Golden State Warriors.
