Bornstars, a catchy comedy about five cash-strap students starting to make porn movies in Beirut, is set to premiere in the Lebanese capital today.
“Bornstars” is the directorial debut of Caroline Labaki, a sister to the well-known Helmer Nadine Labaki (“Capernaum”), and is produced by Los Angeles-based producers Chady Eli Mattar and Scott C. Silver.
The comedy, set in the present-day Beirut, follows five non-fit friends who respond to the effects of Lebanon’s economic meltdown by launching Lebanon’s first adult website.

The Instagram spot has so far received 2.4 million hits. According to the statement, local social media influencers displayed the film on September 2nd, which has since produced more than 7 million hits.
“For me, it’s important to make a film that speaks to the younger generation,” Caroline Rabaki said in a statement. “Our area is saturated with heavy dramas that reflect our struggles, but cinemas are also bored with joy, laughter, and collective releases. We wanted to make the audience entertain, surprise and breathe with “Borner Star.” ”
Producer Chady Eli Mattar commented:
“This is a hallmark of the first Lebanese to be produced and released on such a large scale, with a Hollywood-style P&A campaign, a red carpet premiere and distribution across more than 40 screens across the country,” he further states: life. “
