“Can I get some Amen?” Leanne Johnson angered at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday night, welcoming a house packed into the world of his third “Knife Out” and “Wake Up Dead Man.”
The crowd followed generously, but their early cry of “Amen” turned pale compared to the laughter and cheers that echoed through the theater due to much of the Gothic Thriller’s two-hour runtime. Certainly, the new “Knife Out” film focusing on murders in a small town Catholic church has almost knocked down the house.

Then, when the credits rolled, TIFF movie fans welcomed the all-star cast – Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Kelly Washington, Josh Brolyn, Miramie Knis, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, Daryl McCormack and Kayley Spanie are on the royal stage of Q&A applase.
What many of the audience didn’t know was that the A-listers group had also seen the film for the first time. And they were delighted with the enthusiastic reception.
“You’re called on a team like an All-Star and you’re sitting there and watching these incredibly written characters bring to life,” Washington said. “We were always adoring each other, inspiring each other, embracing stupidity, trying to ruin each other, and that was a great joy.”
Close also reflects the “complexity” of the central murder mystery (which Johnson urged the audience not to spoil it).

Johnson pointed out that all three “Knife Out” films have been released on TIFF, when he and the “Wake Up Dead Man” cast visited the variety studio before screening.
“To do this third thing and be here with these people, with this cast, I can’t wait to see the film,” Johnson eagerly predicts Saturday night.
In the latest article, Craig is back as Detective Benoit Blanc. He recalls putting together a mystery film trilogy – at least for now.
“Like most of the business, it’s a constant surprise,” Craig said. “We made it without ambition. Let’s do the best movie we can. It’s become something. And here we are.”
However, Craig did not explicitly retire the character. “These films need to work at a very high level, otherwise there’s no point in doing them,” he said. “As long as they do it, we’ll continue doing them.”
Translation: In the case of Benoit Blanc, it may not be possible to close.
