Leah Lewis is “moving forward with love and strength” after being allegedly sexually assaulted by her Matlock co-star David Del Rio.
After news broke that Del Rio, 38, was leaving the CBS show, the actress posted a smiling red carpet photo with her mother, Lorraine Lewis, on her Instagram Stories.
“Mom is here,” the “Nancy Drew” alum, 28, told her followers. “I’m fine. Thank you to everyone for all the support and care.”
Leah reiterated, “We are indeed moving forward strongly. The keyword is strength. Please cherish that.”
The social media upload comes shortly after Deadline reported that Del Rio was escorted off the set of the courtroom drama on October 2 following the sexual assault allegations.
The paper noted that the alleged incident between Del Rio and Leah, who play Billy Martinez and Sarah Franklin, respectively, on the show took place on September 26.
An internal investigation was subsequently conducted, and the network confirmed to Page Six that Del Rio had “stepped down from the series.”
Representatives for Mr. Del Rio and Mr. Lear have not yet responded to Page Six’s requests for comment.
After news of the firing broke on Thursday, David’s wife, Katherine Del Rio, shared and deleted a scathing post about her husband’s co-worker.
In one article, the 34-year-old called Leah “the most insecure person I’ve ever met.”
The Duchess of Cambridge then mocked Leah by posting a photo of herself and her mother with the same message: “I will move forward strongly because of what Leah did to (my) family.”
She and David married in April 2018 and are parents to two daughters, Lilia, 2, and Coco, 8 months.
David and Leah’s co-stars, including Kathy Bates and Jason Ritter, have not spoken out about the headline-grabbing scandal.
The show is on hiatus from filming until November, when cast members are expected to begin filming the second half of season two.
“Matlock” Season 2 will premiere on October 12th.
