Lady Gaga and Michael Polanski spoke to Rolling Stone about their wedding plans and how their love story began. While the couple may not be able to wait for her Mayhem tour to end before getting married, Polanski has discussed which dates she thinks are the most “appealing.” They also detailed how excited they are to start a family.
Lady Gaga is on her Mayhem tour until mid-April 2026, but she might also fit right in at a wedding. The star and her fiancé Michael Polanski spoke to Rolling Stone about their plans. Polanski explained, “We talk about it all the time. There’s a break[in the tour]and it’s appealing. It’s like, ‘Okay, can we get married that weekend?'” We don’t want a very big wedding, but we do want to have fun. In many ways, I feel like we’re already married, so it won’t change much. ”
They are equally eager to start a family. Gaga said, “Being a mother is what I want most.” “And he’s going to be a beautiful father. We’re really excited about that.”
They have no interest in raising their children in the spotlight, and Polanski cited the singer’s godfathers, Elton John and David Furnish’s sons Zachary and Elijah, as positive examples of children growing up with famous parents. “I could see that their children were very happy,” he said. “The most important thing is to make it feel like this is just our family. This is our job. Her being Lady Gaga, her art, and all of that, doesn’t have to be separated from her relationship with me and her being a mother.”
Polanski spoke about how he met Gaga in 2019, noting how surprised he was that her mother wanted to match them up. “When her mother first started saying she wanted me and her daughter together, I thought she must be joking, because no one in my life would have thought I was someone who wanted attention,” he said. As he puts it, the dilemma was, “How could a very shy and private person love someone whose life turned out to be the exact opposite of what he thought he wanted?”
Gaga shared her side of the story, saying, “My mom thought we would be compatible, or at least that I would be crazy about him.[She said]’Stephanie, he’s a very serious person.'”
She choked out before continuing. “It’s so special to look back on that because so many people in my life at that time were looking for a good time. People really loved Drunk Lady Gaga.[But]my schemes didn’t work on him. We We were going to meet each other and maybe have a very honest adult conversation and see if we liked each other. Maybe it was Michael’s sense of gravity that attracted me the most. He understood right away how serious things were for me.”
The coronavirus lockdown allowed Polanski to meet Stefani, the woman behind the pop star. “What I always noticed was how helpless she felt,” he says. “They don’t take responsibility for their own lives. I’ve never met someone who is so incredibly talented and gifted and yet feels so helpless.”
Gaga added, “What he saw was that this was someone who felt so far removed from what they were supposed to be doing. He wanted to take care of me, and I had never been loved like that. My life was serious to him. It wasn’t a party. He made me understand that my life was precious.”
