What you need to know
Kylie Kelsey enjoys “low-energy” parenting activities, even if it backfires.
In a segment of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, where she talks about her late-night internet discoveries, the 33-year-old mother of four revealed the “seasonal mom hacks” she discovered while doomscrolling. Kylie, who has daughters Finley, 6 months, Bennett, 2, Elliot, 4, and Wyatt, 6, shared her thoughts on a video in which she shared her mother’s ideas for specific “low energy” activities that parents can do with their kids.
“I love low-energy kids activities for parents,” she shared. “There was a time when we were having a spa day, and we had a new paintbrush and a little bathroom cup of water. It was great.”
She continued, “I closed my eyes and applied clean water to my mother’s face.”
Things changed when Kylie opened her eyes and saw what Bennett was doing with the paintbrush.
“At one point, I opened my eyes and realized Bennett was dipping a paintbrush in water, sucking the water out of the paintbrush, and then painting my face,” she shared. “I mean, I was getting a spit facial, but I could have gotten away with not getting one. I could have gone the rest of my life without having to get a toddler spit facial.”
“After that, I quickly realized that I didn’t have to close my eyes on a spa day,” Kylie added. “That’s okay. I still have to lie on the floor, so that’s okay.”
The proud mother, who shares her children with husband Jason Kelsey, shared some other “low energy” kids activities she likes to do with her daughters. That includes massaging her daughter with just enough pressure “but still relaxing” and putting stickers on her and Jason’s faces.
Kylie said the only activity the girls haven’t fully mastered is how to comb their hair. Although they tried several times, the female students explained that they “couldn’t understand the concept of only brushing.”
“Eventually… it’s like you’re stroking my hair, you’re running your hands around it, it’s like you’re making meatballs with my hair,” she said. “It’s going to become what my mother calls a rat’s nest.”

Kylie admitted that she loves when Elliott does her hair, but it looked “terrible” in the end. The doting mother described her daughter’s reaction as the “tenderest moment” and made it all worth it.
“Every time, she says, ‘You look beautiful,'” she says. “And that’s the sweetest moment. I think, ‘You know what? I look really beautiful. I’m going to wear this to dinner with my dad.'”
“It’s so cute and I love it,” she added. “And I get to sit there while they do it. So 10 out of 10, highly recommended.”
Kylie jokingly revised her review, saying, “9 out of 10, highly recommended. The one point deduction is for hair removal.”
