What you need to know

Kyle Chrisley has been charged with domestic assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public intoxication and retaliation for past conduct after he allegedly assaulted a police officer during his Dec. 20 arrest in Tennessee.Kyle has been arrested multiple times in the past.

New details have emerged regarding Kyle Chrisley’s recent arrest in Tennessee.

The Chrisley Knows Best alum, 34, allegedly got into a physical confrontation with police before he was finally arrested in Rutherford County on Saturday, Dec. 20, according to a new statement from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office obtained by PEOPLE. Kyle, the son of Todd and Julie Chrisley, reportedly punched and injured three police officers.

“As we attempted to speak to Mr. Chrisley, he immediately became aggressive and began lunging at the deputy, throwing punches and assaulting the deputy,” said RCSO Sergeant John Johnson. Brady Green reported in a statement. “After an altercation and the use of OC spray, Mr. Chrisley was taken into custody.”

Kyle’s wife, Ashley, made the first call and said Kyle was “belligerent,” according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities further allege that Kyle appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and admitted to drinking approximately 64 ounces of beer that night.

Online court records show Kyle faces 10 charges including domestic assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public intoxication and retaliation for past conduct. His hearing was scheduled for January 27, 2026, and he was released on $88,500 bail.

Kyle’s latest run-in with the law comes just months after Kyle and Ashley sued Rutherford County and two sheriff’s deputies in August over a September 2024 arrest on an aggravated assault charge. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE at the time, the couple’s attorney argued that Kyle was wrongfully arrested and “punished for asking for help.”

“What we want from this lawsuit is accountability and change, because no family should have to endure what the Chrisley family endured in this horrific scenario,” attorney Wesley Clark of Brazil Clark PLLC previously said in a statement to PEOPLE.

The complaint alleges that on September 9, 2024, “A frustrated mechanic, angry and disgruntled over a payment dispute, showed up uninvited, kicked in the door, threatened violence, used his car as a weapon, rammed an SUV, and nearly ran over Mr. Kyle in front of several neighbors.”

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office deputies “did not arrest the man who caused the disturbance,” according to the document. “Instead, they arrested Kyle Chrisley and ignored clear evidence that he was the victim, not the perpetrator.”

The complaint further states that Kyle and Ashley “filed this lawsuit because no family should be exposed to the threat of criminal charges or arrest for defending themselves or exercising their constitutional rights at home. This is a false arrest, excessive force, and retaliation lawsuit that seeks to hold police officers accountable.”

The lawyers claimed that Kyle suffered humiliation and reputational damage, pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress, and economic loss as a result of his arrest, and sought $1.7 million in damages in addition to a jury trial and legal costs.

In March 2023, Kyle was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after getting into an argument with his boss while working at a truck rental company in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Separated father Todd and stepmother Julie are also dealing with their own legal dramas. Earlier this year, the couple was indicted on 12 counts, including bank fraud, wire fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy, and was pardoned by President Donald Trump. They were subsequently found guilty and sentenced to 19 years in prison, to be sentenced in November 2022.
