After more than a year of speculation, Cartrussell has been officially confirmed to be part of the cast of the upcoming Taylor Sheridan series, The Madison.
Originally announced as a spin-off of “Yellowstone,” entitled “2024,” the show is described as “a heartfelt study of sadness and human connections following a family in New York City in Madison River Valley, central Montana.”
Previously announced cast members include Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Amia Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Rebecca Spence, Daniel Vasinova and Kevin Seagers. Although exact character details are kept under rap, sources say Russell plays the husband of Pfeiffer’s character.
This is just the second major television role Russell has taken over in recent years. He also starred alongside his son Wyatt Russell in the Apple TV+ series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” Aside from his voice role in the Marvel Animated series “What if…?”, Russell has been working exclusively in films since the 1970s, but was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1979 for his role in the TV film “Elvis.”
In addition to his famous roles in films such as Escape from New York and the sequel Escape from LA, Overboard and The Thing, Russell is perfect for Sheridan’s Zero thanks to his many roles in Westerners over the years. These include “Tombstones,” “Hateful 8,” and “Bone Tomahawk.” He also appeared in western television series early in his career, including “The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters,” “The Virginian,” and “Gunsmoke.” Russell is also known for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, including films such as The Hateful Eight, Waond a Time… In Hollywood and Death Proof.
He is represented by the UTA.
Sheridan created “Madison” and is executive producer under the Boske Ranch Production banner. David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Lomballe, Bobjali, David Hatkin, Christina Boros, Michael Friedman, Pfeiffer, Russell and Keith Cox are also executive produced.
