Actor Awards host Kristen Bell embodied the ceremony’s first red carpet theme: “Reimagining the glamor of 20s and 30s Hollywood.”
Belle wore a sheer Georges Hobeika Couture dress.
The actress is hosting the ceremony for the third time tonight and spoke to ELLE in detail about her preparations.
As host of tonight’s Actor Awards (formerly known as the SAG Awards), Kristen Bell embodies ELLE’s theme for the ceremony’s first red carpet: “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour of the ’20s and ’30s.” The star wore a Georges Hobeika Couture dress with a plunging neckline, art deco beading and a pleated satin overskirt. She accessorized with a matching necklace and earrings, as well as Rene Caovilla platform heels.
Bell, who has hosted the ceremony three times, spoke to ELLE ahead of the show about her preparations. “I have an amazingly comical lack of control in this job,” she admitted. “What I have complete control over is what I host and how I present myself as a welcoming host.”
She also detailed what’s happening behind the scenes in the weeks leading up to the ceremony.
I have a small team: my producing partner Ana Ayala and my writer Monica Padman. The three of us work together for a month in advance to pitch ideas, see if SAG likes them, and get their input. “Would it be fun if Kristen did this? Would it be fun if we could do a little bit about this? This year we have ping pong (with Marty Supreme), so what can we do with it?”
Thinking points (periods) last for quite a long time. Preparations for production are completed preferably within a week of the show. Everyone on the team decided, “Yes, this is a great version of entertainment. This is the best joke we’ve ever compiled. Everybody’s happy.” The staff rehearses and builds the stage a week in advance. I rehearse for the show during the day on Friday. I don’t work on Saturdays because I like to be with my children. Previously, they had said, “We’ll do a dry run the day before.” And I said, “I’d love to do that, but I need a substitute. I’d be happy to have you available all day on Friday when they’re in school.” And they were like, “Okay.”
We rehearse all day on Friday and walk to the beat. Actually, it’s like learning to walk in heels. If you want to change it, make sure you get to the point where the problem occurs and can change it quickly enough. I’m interactive, playful, and like to involve people. I did a little performance with Jason Segel in 2025, and it was at the bar at the far end of the auditorium. The assistant director team needed to make sure all the moves worked and that this could be incorporated into the live show.
On Saturday, I completely relax and don’t think about anything. On Sunday morning, I also unzip and don’t think about anything. Then I leave the house around 11am. The rest of the time it’s just a mad dash to do the live show.
