Kristen Bell missed her appearance on the Today show after facing backlash for her anniversary post dedicated to her husband Dax Shepard.
The “Nobody Wanted This” actress was scheduled to appear on the NBC morning show with co-star Justin Lupe on Wednesday morning, according to the show schedule.
However, Lupe was interviewed alone and did not mention Bell’s whereabouts during the controversy.
The day before, Bell posted a video of himself on an airplane to his Instagram Story on his way to interview for his Netflix show.
In another video, she was seen getting dressed with her glam squad and captioned it, “Can’t wait to talk about season 2 of @Nobodywantsthisofficial!!”
It was not immediately clear why Bell was absent from the interview. Page Six has reached out to NBC and Bell’s representatives for comment.
Earlier this week, the Frozen voice actor, 45, was accused of sharing a “tone-deaf” message to honor Shepard on their 12th wedding anniversary.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me, ‘I will never kill you. Many men have killed their wives at some point. I have a strong motive to kill you, but I will never.’ ❤️,” she captioned the post.
The comments section was quickly flooded with critics accusing Bell of being insensitive, considering October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“FYI, posting this caption during Domestic Violence Awareness Month is incredibly tone-deaf :/ Think again,” one person wrote.
“This is a very sad and insensitive statement considering today is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and thousands of women are losing their lives at the hands of men they trusted…” another person agreed.
“Kristen, there’s no way you’re posting this during Domestic Violence Awareness Month 😭,” said a third.
Some said Bell’s words were “inspiring” to victims of domestic violence, while others said his message was “bizarre” and “disturbing”.
“There is nothing funny about domestic violence ‘jokes’ that trivialize the very real fear, trauma and pain that millions of victims and survivors face every day,” the domestic violence advocacy group told Page Six in a statement Tuesday.
Meanwhile, some fans defended Bell, calling her critics “too sensitive.”
Shortly after facing intense backlash, Bell restricted comments on Instagram.
Bell and the Armchair Expert podcast host, 50, married in October 2013 and have daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10.
