The ratings for “KPop Demon Hunters” rose, rose, rose.
Netflix titles were the most streamed movies of 2025, with a staggering 20.5 billion minutes watched in the U.S. alone, according to year-end data from Nielsen. Divide this by the movie’s running time of 99 minutes and you get 207 million full views of the movie.
The film, produced by Sony Pictures Animation, topped the year-end charts despite debuting in June, mid-2025. Netflix has made some limited theatrical releases due to the surge in popularity on the streaming platform.
According to Nielsen, 48% of people who streamed “KPop Demon Hunter” are between the ages of 2 and 11. The animated children’s film about a pop star who secretly slays monsters to protect her fans has been in the Nielsen streaming top 10 for 25 consecutive weeks. The film’s hit song “Golden” spent a total of eight weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
According to a data dump previously released by Netflix, “KPop Demon Hunters” broke the streamer’s record as the most-watched title in a six-month period with 482 million views. (Netflix aggregates global data, while Nielsen measures viewership in the U.S.)
Nielsen has released exclusive streaming data as part of the second annual ARTEY Awards, which recognize the streaming titles with the highest levels of viewership. Moana 2 is second only to KPop Demon Hunters with 9.4 billion minutes watched on Disney+. The sequel and the 2016 original movie combined for more than 15 billion minutes of viewing time.
The top streaming movie for general audiences was Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2” with 7.1 billion minutes on Netflix. And behind it is “Wicked,” which became available to stream on Peacock in the spring before moving to Amazon Prime Video. The musical film set in Oz garnered 6.8 billion minutes of viewing time across the two platforms.
