What you need to know
While Kit Harington has achieved many successes in his career, it’s his family life that keeps him “grounded” amidst the turmoil.
The Game of Thrones alum, 39, recently spoke with Porter and shared trivia about his career and life as a father. Harington, who has two children with his wife Rose Leslie, told the outlet that after a long day of filming, seeing his son and daughter made all the dark feelings he endured on set melt away.
“Rose and I knew we were probably going to have a pretty tough season with this, and Rose was working in Stratford doing theater, so she said, ‘Okay, you can take the kids while we’re filming in Cardiff,'” he said.
“So when I got home from set God knows what, I walked in the door and my kids were there and all the dark feelings that I had to deal with during the day were gone,” Harington continued. “It was weird and awesome. I was going to come home and be a father.”

The do-it-yourself father went on to share some other unusual details about his children and his journey as a father.
“They’re both very aware of the world and kind,” he said of his children. “That’s all I want for my kids. I’ve been blessed with two people who have both of those qualities.”
“The timing was right to become a father, and I think I’m good at being a father,” Harington continued. “My son was born when I was 34, and I realized the other day that when he was 20, I was still 54. That’s not that many years.”
Harrington went on to say that although he is going through a “strange moment” in his life, he ultimately feels “very grounded.”
“I’m at a weird moment in my life. At 39, I’m the same age my mom was when she had me. And I’m responsible for these two. I’m halfway through my life,” Harington told the outlet. “You thought your parents’ lives before you were born were like going back to ancient times, and at this point I was like, no, that wasn’t really the case.”
“I feel like it’s barely started,” he said. “I feel much more grounded and I don’t beat myself up about things less.”

Harington played Jon Snow on Game of Thrones for eight seasons and even met his wife on set. However, the actor revealed he believes his and Leslie’s children will “never” see their real-life love story unfold on screen.
“I don’t think they want to watch Game of Thrones,” Harington told E! News at the premiere of his show “Industry” in 2024. “They’ll probably never want to see that show, I absolutely guarantee it.”
Ms Harrington said her children would be “very uncomfortable” with the prospect of seeing her and Leslie’s relationship develop.
He added that he expected his children to have some kind of embarrassing “grief” over their father’s acting career.
“I don’t think they want to see anything I’m in. I really don’t,” he continued. “It’s going to be a sadness, like, ‘Hey, this was me 20 years ago.’ And they’re going to say, ‘Dad, no.’
