There’s no bag lady like Kimora Lee Simmons.
The Baby Phat founder, 50, showed off her jaw-dropping handbag collection at Tuesday’s Kimora: Back in the Fabulous finale preview, revealing she owns a staggering 698 designer bags.
“My name is Kimora. I’m a hoarder. But I’m a luxury hoarder,” the model declares in a clip promoting E! reality show.
When asked how many bags she had, Simmons initially downplayed the number. “About 100,” she said with a shy smile, then corrected herself. “No, there’s probably a few hundred.”
Then the actual count flashed on the screen: 698.
The fashion mogul’s collection includes dozens of Hermès Birkin and Kelly bags, including candy-colored snakeskin and ostrich styles that sell for more than $50,000 on the resale market, as well as a yellow, pink and orange Birkin Sunrise Rainbow limited edition bag that currently sells for $45,000.
The shelves are lined with quilted Chanel flap bags, Goyard and Louis Vuitton luggage, and high-end sporting goods such as a 2019 Chanel rubber basketball with a leather chain strap ($7,500) and a Louis Vuitton 1998 World Cup commemorative soccer ball ($9,000).
“I have really good bags. Some are vintage. Some are no longer made. I have some that I’ve started making. That’s how good they are,” she explains as the camera pans through her carefully organized closet.
The bags are categorized by color, style and designer, creating what Simmons calls a “great archive.” Her accessories collection also includes $1,200 worth of Fendi Monster charms and $1,000 worth of Love Baths.
“My daughters will inherit a lot, but not yet,” she joked. (Simmons is the mother of Ming Lee Simmons, 25, Aoki Lee Simmons, 23, Kenzo Lee Hounsou, 16, Gary Lee, 16, Wolf Lee Riesner, 10, and “bonus son” Jaden, 19.)
The episode featured daughter Ming running into her mother’s closet to borrow a bag for a night out, which the reality star says is a regular occurrence.
“Min loves shopping in my closet,” Kimora confessed.
“She takes my bags, and she takes my earrings and rings and things like that,” she said, adding that Ming frequently gaslights her about whose items belong to whom. “She always says, ‘It’s not yours.'”
The show gave viewers an inside glimpse into Simmons’ amazing life as she juggled motherhood, business ventures, and family drama.
