But at the afterparty, she transformed her polarizing look into a piece of grunge history: the black satin John Galliano corset top that Courtney Love wore to the 1995 VMAs.
She paired the look with high-waisted black Skims capris and high-heeled pumps, with her hair swept back into an artistic updo.
This top recently sold for over $10,500 on 1stDibs under the name “Victorian 1994 SS Runway Velvet Lace Blazer Corset Jacket.”
The Hole frontwoman originally wore the item 30 years ago at an MTV awards show, botching an interview with Madonna and struggling to get in front of the camera, cementing Galliano’s place as a top tier in ’90s fashion lore.
While Kardashian’s masked gala look left everything to the imagination, her afterparty corset showed off her signature curves to the fullest.
The vintage Dior moment also continues Kardashian’s archival fashion flexibility, including wearing Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress and Jackie Kennedy’s iconic Cartier watch at the 2022 Met Gala.
