Kim Kardashian isn’t apologizing for giving her kids puppies for Christmas.
A month after receiving backlash for surprising her and her four children with ex-Kanye West – North West, 12, Saint West, 10, Chicago West, eight, and Psalm West, six – with a puppy on Christmas morning, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 45, is opening up about how having six dogs at home – four puppies and two older dogs – has changed his family.
“This Pomeranian is so small,” she told her sister Khloe Kardashian on the Jan. 28 episode of the “Khloe in Wonderland” podcast. “It’s just a handful, but these past few weeks have taught our kids so much responsibility.”
In fact, Kim said North travels with a puppy he named Uzi and always keeps the dog in his room.
Chloe, 41, added: “I love it when Chi cleans up after the dogs. She’s not the best at it, but she gets it done.”
Not long after the SKIMS founder revealed that she welcomed four new furry family members by posting an adorable photo of her puppies on her Instagram Stories, she quickly faced backlash for treating the puppies like “stuffed animals.”
“Puppies are not stuffed animals, and it’s a shame that Kim passed up the opportunity to become a spokesperson for rescue dogs, and has rightfully been criticized on social media for doing so,” Ingrid Newkirk, founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), said in a statement on December 28.
Newkirk also emphasized that Kim and Khloe (who also gave their family a dog for Christmas) should “call PETA or their local shelter” the next time they want to add a dog to their family.

“(They) can now try to make some amends by sending their children to volunteer at local shelters, adopting to local shelters, and paying for at least one day of spaying and neutering to stop the growing homeless puppy crisis,” she added.
Kim didn’t respond at the time, but just a week later she posted a video of her children playing with their new Pomeranian puppy on her Instagram Stories.
The video showed Chicago kissing and hugging the sable-furred pup in the family’s living room, and Psalm limping on his hands and knees chasing one of the dark-haired dogs around the room.
Kim then picked up the same dog and one of her children shouted in the background, “Mommy, look, you’re licking me!”
