Kim Kardashian has revealed that a lack of emotional and financial security led her to file for divorce from Kanye West after eight years of marriage.
On Wednesday’s episode of “Call Her Daddy,” host Alex Cooper asked her what the “last straw” was in their relationship, and she admitted it was “toxic” at times.
“There were so many things I couldn’t handle,” she listed first. “I didn’t like the feeling of someone talking bad about my children, my grandmother, my aunt. All those feelings.”
“If anyone feels that way, we shouldn’t be together.”
She also revealed that West had considered abortion while pregnant with their daughter, North, and said West had “revealed a lot of personal things” about her.
The Skims founder then called a third reason for her application: “I don’t feel safe emotionally or financially,” and elaborated on the case that “when they[go home][they]end up owning five Lamborghinis.”
However, “they end up running out” during the “episode” as West allegedly gave them out “to all of his friends.”
“You never know what’s going to happen when you wake up. It’s a really unsettling feeling,” the 44-year-old said. “There was a huge lack of stability.”
In the conversation, Kardashian confessed that she was afraid of being excluded from the fashion and art world after her divorce because of West’s introduction.
But “some of[her]biggest projects came to fruition after[she]made that decision.”
“It was something that the universe rewarded me with and showed me that I was going in the right direction. And I think it’s like a very important and powerful thing to pay attention to the signs and pay attention to life and what happens and how you’re guided to make really good decisions. But I don’t have any regrets,” she concluded.
“I have four amazing, beautiful babies.”
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum decided to file for divorce because she wanted to set a good example for her four children: daughter North, 12, son Saint, 9, daughter Chicago, 7, and son Psalm, 6.
“When my mental health starts to take a hit and I can’t parent the way I need to and I can’t stay focused, one of us will be able to do it,” she said.
“I had to save myself to be a better mother. And I think when everyone grows up, they’ll be able to look at it and understand it all.”
The end of Kardashian and West’s marriage was covered not only on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but also on his In Whose Name? documentary.
In one particular scene, the Kardashian rapper-turned-fashion designer breaks down in tears after confessing that she has stopped taking her medication.
“Your personality wasn’t like this a few years ago,” she sobbed when he told her he had been off her medication for “five months.”
West, 48, was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder but later claimed to be autistic.
In another video, Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner urged her to start taking her medication again, which left West furious.
“You eviscerated me and made me feel like a slut,” he told her. “And the only reason you got away is because I was on medication.”
“Nobody in my family takes any responsibility for my hospital visits. But if I want to go online, that’s 50 percent of what people say. At least,” the songwriter claimed. “Am I lying?”
When Jenner replied, “It doesn’t matter,” West started screaming.
“That’s important!” he repeated, yelling at Jenner when she pointed out that he “didn’t finish the sentence.”
“It’s important to us and it’s important to you. It doesn’t matter what the internet says. It matters what we think, dear,” the mother was able to clarify.
The “Heartless” rapper married Kardashian in 2014 and they have four children together.
However, by 2022, she filed for divorce following his alarming behavior.
Soon after, West began dating Kardashian lookalike Bianca Sensori. The two will be married by 2023.
