Kim Kardashian showed off the four Pomeranian puppies she gave her children for Christmas, despite PETA harshly criticizing her gifts.
The Skims co-founder posted a group photo of two small dogs on Instagram on Saturday, with all four puppies sitting next to each other.
“Welcome to the family,” she wrote.
Her celebrity friends were thrilled with the photo, including Vanessa Bryant, who commented: “Aww so cute! 🥰.”
However, some comments were critical of her, with one person writing, “You don’t need four dogs, young lady.”
Another said: “It would be great to see these dogs in 10-15 years.”
When Kardashian revealed her controversial gifts to her children in December, PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk criticized the decision as “callous”.
Newkirk told the Daily Mail: “Puppies are not stuffed animals and it’s such a shame that Kim missed out on the chance to be a spokesperson for rescue dogs and was rightly criticized on social media for doing so.”
“Ignoring the animal homelessness crisis is inexcusably callous,” she added, urging Kardashian to “call PETA or your local shelter the next time you want to adopt an animal.”
Kardashian has four children with ex-husband Kanye West: North West, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6.
She first shared a photo of the puppies on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “Each of my kids has a puppy.”
This isn’t the first time Kardashian, 45, has caused controversy over owning a dog.
In December 2022, she came under fire for posting and then deleting a TikTok video that appeared to show her two Pomeranians, Sushi and Salmon, living in her garage.
She showed off the puppies’ Christmas details, including stockings and mini Christmas trees, and the video also showed them hopping around the garage in tiny coats next to large pens and pee pads.
The video was deleted after receiving a lot of backlash.
A comment on the video read: “They have acres of land and they keep their dog in their garage.”
“Maybe that doesn’t go with the ‘aesthetic’ lol,” one user joked.
