A moment of truth.
Kim Kardashian has finally revealed why she suspiciously deleted a photo of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with her mother Kris Jenner from Instagram last November.
“It was really innocent. It’s really crazy,” the Skims co-founder said Wednesday on his sister Khloé Kardashian’s “Khloe in Wonderland” podcast.
Kim, 45, added, “Mom and Meghan have been friends for several years and have a really sweet relationship.”
The mother-of-four said she looked through photos from Jenner’s star-studded 70th birthday party with her famous mom to consider which snaps to post online.
“We were told it was a really cool thing to post. And then after we posted, I think they realized it was Memorial Day and didn’t want to be seen attending the party. Even though it had already been posted, it was then deleted,” Kim recalled.
“And I think they realized, ‘Oh, this is so stupid,'” she added.
Kim said it may have been “okay” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to be photographed at the Baby to Baby gala that night, but “partying and dancing on the dance floor or anything like that might not have been okay.”
“That’s why we got rid of this holiday to honor Memorial Day,” she told Chloe, referring to the holiday that honors fallen soldiers in the line of duty.
“Sometimes you have to laugh at a situation and try to defuse the situation and lean in if people are taking it the wrong way,” Kim added.
“I thought, ‘We should do a whole Skims campaign.’ Take a picture. Even if it’s just us, we can post something like, ‘I’m going to shoot at your mom,’ and delete it after 30 minutes.” And I said, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t have permission to post a photo in the campaign,'” she said.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star said if the show had been made “lighter and funnier” it would have “been received differently.”
“But I hated how people perceived it,” she said.
“It’s terrible. They just took something so crazy and ridiculous that it didn’t need to be.”
Page Six reached out to a representative for the Sussexes for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
As Page Six previously reported, Prince Harry, 41, and Markle, 44, made headlines after attending Jenner’s 70th birthday party on November 8, 2025.
The couple walked hand in hand as they arrived at the gala held at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s $175 million mansion in Beverly Hills, California.
The “Harry & Meghan” stars met and networked with A-listers including Kim, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Bill Gates, Paris Hilton, Tyler Perry, Ciara and Mark Zuckerberg.
After the party, the “All’s Fair” actress and her mother shared photos on the merry-go-round, including one of the “Suits” alum and her beau.
But soon after, Kim and Jenner suspiciously deleted a photo they had taken with the Sussexes.
A source told Page Six that people close to the royal family thought Harry and Markle’s appearance at the gala was “very tacky.”
“This really shows how far Prince Harry is from the rest of his family. These guys may be American stars, but their sheer flamboyance is at odds with what Prince William is trying to do with his life and the monarchy,” a source told Us at the time.
A representative for the Invictus Games founder and actress asked Jenner and Kim to delete Instagram photos from the party to avoid further “upsetting” the royal family, who are trying to reconcile, sources said.
Another source said the Kardashian-Jenner family was “angry with the Sussexes” for “overshadowing” what was supposed to be a “celebration of Chris.”
The aftermath of the photo drama was the “last straw” for Meredith Maynes, the 11th generation of the Sussexes’ publicist, before she leaves her job as chief communications officer at Archewell Philanthropies.
