Kim Kardashian has defended her 12-year-old daughter North West, insisting on the preteen’s right to lean into her own style.
Speaking with Alex Cooper on the latest episode of Call Her Daddy, Kardashian opened up about how difficult it was for West to grow up in the public eye and explained that, like her friends, she loves experimenting with style.
“It’s so difficult and so funny because all the kids are wearing the same thing,” Kardashian explained, adding, “But then my daughter tried to wear it and I was like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to wear it anymore.'” Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world. ”
The mother of four recently came under fire for making her eldest son wear a black corset and miniskirt during a trip to Rome this summer.
Fans slammed Kardashian on social media, writing: “I don’t like 12-year-olds wearing bustiers” and “Protect her innocence and pay more attention to her wardrobe.”
But at the end of the day, what West wears matters to no one but himself.
Kardashian revealed that she supports her daughter no matter what, saying, “Being a mother and learning at the same time. But what I do know is that my baby is a very good baby and a very sweet child.”
And as for her style? “She listens to me, but other than that, I’m like, ‘Baby, if you want blue hair, so be it.’ You know, it makes her so happy. I’ll never take that creativity away from her.” Kardashian added, “I think anyone who’s raising kids, especially someone who’s raising four kids on their own, is doing the best they can.”
North West has been an internet sensation and mini style icon since birth, following in the footsteps of her famous mother.
But on “Call Her Daddy,” Kardashian asks the world, “Unless you’ve been here before, like mothers of teenagers and preteens, please, I think we need a little reprieve.”
