He didn’t want to end up with “Solo Mio.”
Kevin James says finding true love is “difficult” and says it’s easier to panic over finding love as you get older.
The “King of Queens” alum has been happily married to wife Steffiana de la Cruz for more than 20 years, but James, 60, tells Page Six that dating hasn’t been easy.
“I think we’re all just searching in a way. You want to find something that connects with you, but it’s hard,” he told Page Six earlier this week at the New York premiere of his new romantic comedy Solo Mio.
The “Hitch” star added that as people get older, it becomes easier to believe that they may never find love.
James added: “If you start trying too hard by gripping your back, it won’t work and you’ll panic even more.”
But James, who met his model wife on a blind date and married her in 2004, had some advice for those trying to settle down.
“You have to let it go,” the comedian shared. “You have to trust God and just let it take its course, and there will always be something better around the corner.
In “Solo Mio,” the “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” star plays Matt Taylor, a man who is abandoned at an altar in Rome and chooses to honeymoon alone instead of flying home.
Traveling through the Eternal City, he “begins a bittersweet journey of self-discovery.”
When asked if he took the role for the free trip to Italy, James laughed: “I wish I had.” “It’s a great way to do it, but you need a story. The story we came up with and how it developed continued to grow.”
James said of Italy, “He was a great character in the movie and it was fun to play him with the whole crew.”
He attended the film’s red carpet with Dela Cruz and three of their four children, daughters Sistine and Sienna, and son Kanon.
“Solo Mio,” which also stars Alyson Hannigan, will be released in theaters on February 6th.
