Kevin Federline claimed ex-wife Britney Spears’ “abnormal behavior” is worse than people seem on the surface.
“I’m really worried,” the former backup dancer told “Entertainment Tonight” in an interview published Tuesday.
“As a father, I am truly terrified that one day I will wake up and my sons will be faced with the unimaginable,” he said, also referring to his and the singer’s two children, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, added: “This has to ring the alarm bells because I really wish their mom could help somehow.”
The 47-year-old actor explained that he briefly shares his concerns about the “Toxic” songstress, 43, in his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, which is scheduled to be released on October 21.
“I won’t go into details because I don’t want to just expose her private life. But it’s 10 times worse than what I said in the book,” he claimed.
Federline explained that she has remained “silent” over the years “for the sake of my family” and has “even tried to help my sons build a relationship with their mother.”
“I pray to God every day that Britney gets the help she needs, or that she gets the help she needs, and then I realized that you have two sons right in front of you crying out for a life with you,” he said, explaining that he wants “Britney to be around[their]children for a long time.”
“I realized that my sons didn’t know the woman I married,” Federline claimed.
Spears’ rep denounced Federline’s claims, telling Page Six in a statement: “The publication of Kevin’s book has once again allowed him and others to profit from her. Sadly, this is after her child support agreement with Kevin has ended.”
“All she cares about is her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being in this sensational endeavor. She details her journey so far in her memoir,” the spokesperson added.
Page Six confirmed in November 2024 that Spears had finished paying Federline $10,000 biweekly, or $20,000 a month, in child support for the first time in 17 years.
Spears previously paid her ex-girlfriend about $40,000 a month in child support until her eldest son’s 18th birthday in 2023.
According to the New York Times, Ms. Federline worried in her memoir that the Grammy winner was “hurting toward something irreversible,” writing, “The clock is ticking, it’s getting close to 11, and something bad is going to happen if things don’t change.”
The complaint also alleges that Spears watched her son sleep “with a knife in hand.”
The “Gimme More” songstress had previously been under conservatorship for 13 years, but was released from the conservatorship in 2021.
She has recently raised concerns about her health, with sources telling Page Six last month that she has been refusing mental health support.
