Oops, he did it again.
Kevin Federline claimed he was “just trying to help” his ex-wife Britney Spears with her shocking memoir ‘You Thought You Knew’.
In an interview published Thursday, Federline told Vanity Fair that he did not publish the book to “hurt her” or “bring anyone down” as the 43-year-old pop star is reportedly “in a downward spiral” over the revelations.
The former backup dancer’s memoir accuses Spears of cheating on her, abusing her children and using drugs while breastfeeding, and claims she is “coming from a place of understanding.”
The 47-year-old said: “I want you to know that I was involved in all of this too. I’m not here to point fingers.”
While raising her sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jaden, 19, she admitted that they both partied, but insisted: “The difference is, I knew what was important to my kids, but whenever I had kids, I also knew that none of that was going on. There was nothing going on that was going to affect my parenting.”
He accused people of being “silent” about Spears because they “just want to see her get better.”
Federline explained, “It’s about trying to get to a place where there’s still a way forward that involves you and your children and the people around you who love you and want to bridge that gap.”
He said he hopes the Princess of Pop will show people that she “knows exactly what’s going on,” that she “really cares” about him and that she just “wants to see great things happen.”
Asked if he was one of those people, Mr. Federline replied, “Yes. I mean, who would I be as a father if I didn’t advocate for my sons’ mothers?”
Some social media users called this “bullshit”, with many claiming through X that “he’s not trying to help her at all.”
“I don’t know how accurate everything was,” Federline said of Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me,” published in October 2023.
But, he said, “She has a right to tell her story. …Everyone has a right to tell their story.”
Spears has been applauding “You Thought You Knew” since Federline began promoting it earlier this month.
Her agent said this was an opportunity to “profit” from the songwriter.
Spears also tweeted that “the constant gaslighting from[my]ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting.”
Days later, she added that it was “horrifying” how “convincing” Federline was among the press.
On Thursday, the Daily Mail obtained footage of the Grammy-winning singer “spiraling” and driving erratically at the Red O Restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California.
The “Crossroads” star is reportedly “acting out” because the memoir “has driven[her]over the edge,” with sources claiming that “old wounds are being reopened.”
