Kevin Federline claims Britney Spears’ “insane” social media posts, which included dancing with a knife and spewing “inexplicable abuse”, were signs she was “high” after being released from her 13-year conservatorship.
“Thanks to her newfound freedom, I’ve seen history repeat itself,” Federline, 47, said in a clip for the audiobook version of her upcoming memoir, “You Thought You Knew,” according to Us Weekly.
“Her social media posts became even more erratic, including infamous videos of her dancing with a knife, inexplicable profanity, and violent behavior that was impossible to ignore. Even without a rehab counselor, we could tell she was high in many of those videos.”
In 2023, Spears released several clips of herself dancing with what appeared to be a meat cleaver, shocking fans and prompting police to conduct a medical examination. The singer eventually addressed the issue, telling his followers that the knife was “fake.”
Federline goes on to say in her book that her ex-girlfriend’s two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, “started to avoid social media” after she began receiving hateful comments from the pop star’s fans following her exit from the conservatorship.
“They knew what it would bring: endless negativity and criticism directed at them from fans who didn’t understand the whole story,” he added.
“The Free Britney militants were brutal. The boys understood that it was better to build a relationship with their mother on their own terms.”
“People called them ‘liars,’ ‘traitors,’ and ‘drama queens.’ They spewed vile epithets like, ‘What son wouldn’t stand up for his mother?’ Or, he added, “Once my mother is gone, I will regret turning my back on her…” “And those were some of the understated comments.”
A representative for Spears did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The “Toxic” hitmaker previously accused Federline of “sensationalism” and slammed his ex-girlfriend’s upcoming memoir after child support payments to Federline were terminated.
A rep for the Princess of Pop told Page Six in a statement: “Kevin’s coverage of her book once again allows him and others to profit from her.”
“Unfortunately, this is after the child support agreement with Kevin ends,” the rep added. “All she cares about is the children and their well-being under these sensational circumstances.”
Spears was married to her second ex-husband, Kevin Federline, from 2004 to 2007. She stopped paying child support to Federline in November 2024, after her youngest son turned 18.
The former backup dancer moved his sons to Hawaii in 2023 after his wife, Victoria, took a job as a volleyball coach at his alma mater, the University of Hawaii.
At the time, Spears was said to have been estranged from her children over concerns about her mental health and issues with her frequent nude postings on social media.
However, the 43-year-old ‘Gimme More’ hitmaker has recently started mending her relationship with her sons.
In November 2024, a source exclusively told Page Six that Spears had reunited with Jaden, 19, and were “spending a lot of time together.”
At the time, another source added that Spears was “ecstatic to have her baby back.”
A source told Us Weekly in September that the three family members have “turned the page on their relationship” and are “healing together.”
“The boys are growing up and want their mom in their lives. Britney is really happy about that. She’s so grateful to have her mom in her life. She feels whole again,” the source added.
