Kendra Duggar expressed support for her husband, Joseph Duggar, in a series of emails after he was accused of child sexual abuse.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the reality TV star first contacted his wife from the Washington County Jail in Arkansas on March 23, writing, “I hope this gets you well. I love you! <3 <3
Kendra replied, “I got your message! I love you!! Good luck.”
Apparently after the call from prison, Joseph responded the next day, “It was great talking to you today! I always look forward to hearing your voice! I hope you have a day full of greatness! And in Psalm 54, I pray for each of you, replacing the personal pronoun with your name!”
The “19 Kids and Counting” alum, who married Kendra in 2017, added that the passage he mentioned “gave me great comfort.”
“All the psalms that mean so much to me are 8, 18, 54, 86, 91, 119, 139. Listen to them when you get a chance. Maybe in song form if you like;) I love you so much! <3 <3 <3," he concluded.
Kendra, who has four children with Joseph, responded via email: “I’m so happy to talk to you! I love you!!”
After sending her heart to the mother of four, Kendra followed up with lyrics from Megan Woods’ song “The Truth,” noting that it’s Joseph’s favorite song.
The song’s lyrics include “I don’t belong to the lies/I belong to you, and” and “I don’t see it when I look in the mirror/Lord, I don’t want to hear any more lies.”
At the time, Joseph was in prison in his home state of Arkansas after being accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old child while on vacation in Florida in 2020.
In mid-March, a 14-year-old girl claimed that Counting On touched her genitals and rubbed her thighs while on vacation in Panama City Beach when she was 9 years old.
However, when he suddenly apologized, the abuse allegations stopped.
Joseph, who is said to have been questioned by the victim’s father, confessed to the encounter between the two and was arrested.
He was eventually transported to Florida and charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a victim under 12 years of age and lewd and lascivious acts with a person over 18 years of age, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Shortly after, in a separate case, he was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of false imprisonment.
Kendra, 27, was also arrested on the same charges but released later the same day.
Page Six obtained multiple prison calls from the couple, where they revealed that their children had been taken away and that their families were disappointed in him. And in another call, the couple bragged about their “toned” physiques, with Joseph talking about his fitness habits in prison.
Joseph has since been released on $600,000 bail and flown back to Arkansas. He is scheduled to return to court on May 18th.
