Kelly Condon has been cast in Netflix’s new drama series “The God of the Woods.”
She will star opposite Maya Hawke in the project, which is based on Liz Moore’s 2024 novel of the same name.
According to the official logline, “The God of the Woods” is a “multi-generational drama series set in the Adirondacks, in the wake of dark secrets, class tensions, and potentially related family tragedies in the Van Laar family. Explore the mystery surrounding the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp. As past and present collide, the Van Laar family’s wealth and influence unravel and the pernicious consequences of abuse of privilege and power are revealed. ”
According to the official character description, Condon plays Alice Van Laar, Barbara’s mother, who is “hardened by the grief of a past family tragedy and trapped in a contemptuous marriage.”

Judy Luptak, played by Hawke, is described as “intelligent and quietly determined” and is assigned to take on Barbara’s case as “the first female investigator in the male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation.”
Condon’s credits include “The Banshees of Inisherin” (2022), “Train Dreams” (2025) and “F1” (2025). She will next be seen opposite Brendan Fraser and Andrew Scott in the film Pressure, which will be released on May 29th.
Liz Hannah and Liz Moore will serve as co-showrunners on God of the Woods and executive produce the original film along with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty. The studio is Sony Pictures Television.
