New single Keith Urban was diagnosed with laryngitis earlier this week, forcing him to cancel his ‘High and Alive World Tour’ in South Carolina.
The country singer was just hours away from taking the stage at Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Wednesday when venue officials announced that laryngologist Dr. Gaelynn Garrett had advised her to “cancel the performance.”
“He has completely rested his voice and Dr. Garrett is optimistic that he will return to the stage for a show in Nashville,” the statement read, referring to the hitmaker’s concert Friday night at Bridgestone Arena.
Urban, 57, added: “Hey Greenville, I’m so sorry to have to cancel your show.
“I know all the arrangements it takes to go to a concert these days, and I have never taken any of it, and you, for granted. I look forward to getting back there when I can!!!!!”
The “Fighter” singer embarked on a tour in May, months before his separation from estranged wife Nicole Kidman, 58, was revealed.
Page Six confirmed on September 29 that Urban and the “Baby Girl” star had ended their 19-year marriage.
“Sometimes relationships end on their own,” a source told Us, while another source told TMZ that the exes had been living apart since the beginning of the summer.
The next day, Kidman confirmed the news when she filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation.
In a court filing obtained by Page Six, she asked to be the “primary resident parent” of herself and the “Let It Roll” singer’s daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
The pair have yet to comment on their separation, but their interviews and social media snubs in recent months seem to hint at trouble in paradise.
Kidman was reportedly “really upset” by the breakup but was focused on “moving on with her life and ensuring her children are taken care of.”
After filing, the “Practical Magic” star didn’t hesitate to return to the spotlight at the amFAR auction in Texas on Oct. 4 and at Paris Fashion Week a few days later.
Meanwhile, Urban notably left the stage on October 2nd, prior to a performance in Hershey, Pennsylvania, without wearing his wedding ring for the first time.
The hitmaker paid tribute to Kidman and her children on his show that night, despite controversially changing the lyrics of a song inspired by the ‘The Fighter’ actress a few days earlier.
