Kayvan Novak, Bonita Fredericksy, and John Pointing have been cast as regular cast members in the new Peacock comedy series Dig.

The series, based on Kate Myers’ book Excavation, was originally announced for the NBCUniversal streamer in May 2025. According to the official logline, the show “centers on four women working at an archaeological dig in Greece who find themselves at vastly different crossroads in their lives. When the team uncovers a long-buried secret that has the potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy.”

The three new additions join previously announced actors Amy Poehler, Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas and Fina Strazza.

Novak will play Stavros, who is described as “a true romantic and the head of a small Greek village where an excavation site is located.” Friedelecy will play Dorothy, who is said to be “the site’s jack-of-all-trades cook, office manager and nurse. She’s been there the whole time and seen it all.” Pointing will play Gary, “a site manager at the mine and Claire’s (Thomas) fiancée. He’s always cheerful and gets along with everyone.”

Novak is best known for his role as Nandor the Relentless in the FX mockumentary series “What We Do in the Shadows.” The show ended its six-season run on Basic Cable Car in 2024. Novak is known for his BAFTA-winning roles in the Phone Jacker series, as well as shows such as Archer and films such as Cruella and Paddington.

He is represented by Artist First.

Friedelici previously starred as General Diane Beckman on NBC’s popular spy drama “Chuck.” She is a prolific character actress who has appeared on shows such as “The Pit,” “CSI,” “The West Wing,” “Chicago Med,” “How to Get Away with Murder,” and “Parks and Recreation.”

She is repped by Trademark Talent.

Pointing has recently appeared on shows such as “Run Away,” “Queenie,” “Sweet Pea,” and “Murder is Easy.” He is best known for his roles in the comedies Plebs and Big Boys, the latter of which earned him a BAFTA nomination.

He is repped by CAA and Conway Van Gelder Grant.

Poehler and her former Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schull co-wrote the first episode of Dig, both also served as executive producers, and Poehler starred. Mr. Schur serves as executive producer under the Flemron banner. JJ Philbin is the show’s writer and executive producer. Morgan Sackett will serve as executive producer, and Dean Holland will serve as director and executive producer. Other executive producers include Dave Becky and David Miner of 3 Arts, Sharon Jackson of Ocean Avenue, and Kate Arend and Jordan Greif of Polar’s Paper Kites. Myers is co-executive producer. The studio is Universal Television. The studio is Universal Television, where Poehler, Schur, and Sackett have an overall contract.
