Katy Perry has opened up vulnerablely about releasing her breakup ballad ‘Bandaids’ after splitting from ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom.
“Thank you for putting the bandaid on me (sic)…” she wrote on Instagram on Sunday, along with a behind-the-scenes snap from the music video.
“By the way, I agonized over the idea of putting this song out there for months…It’s still scary to be vulnerable all these years later.”
“But I hope the lyrics of this song resonate with someone who is going through what I went through, so that maybe they won’t feel alone and will find the strength to keep going like I did ❤️🩹,” Perry, 41, added.
Several fans praised the “ET” songstress, with one commenting, “So proud of you Katy, (sic) thank you for this beautiful song 🥺 Already hooked and never forget your Katy Cats are always here for you.”
“It’s all about being authentic! You are the definition of resilience! KP, we love you ❤️,” another added, while a third chimed in, “You are so loved ❤️🩹.”
Perry appeared to offer a glimpse of the end of her and Brown’s nearly 10-year relationship with the track and music video for “Bandaids,” which she released on Thursday.
“I give God my hand and I swear I tried / No stone left unturned,” the Grammy nominee sings. “It’s not what you did/It’s what you didn’t do/You were there and you weren’t.”
“I’m used to you letting me down/There’s no use trying to send you flowers anymore,” she continues. “Even if you tell yourself you’ll change, you won’t change/Putting a Band-Aid on a broken heart.”
In this song, she also sings about trying to repair a relationship, but it is implied that her lover was not trying.
“It’s not that complicated/Ask me how my day was,” she sings. “I’m doing everything I can to save this.”
However, Perry stated that she did not regret the relationship and would “do it all over again” because “the love that[they]built was worth it in the end.”
Although she doesn’t say who she’s singing about, she does include Daisy towards the end of the video, which appears to be a reference to her and Bloom’s 5-year-old daughter Daisy.
Perry and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star confirmed their split in July.
The “Teenage Dream” songstress has since moved on with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who a source told Page Six is ”crazy about her.”
