Katherine Schwarzenegger sparked a debate with fans after praising husband Chris Pratt for building dollhouses for their daughters.
The “Kat and Brandi” creator recently shared a video on Instagram of the actor getting his hands dirty while working on a homemade project.
“I’ll never understand why women say, ‘I don’t need a husband,’ when in reality I need a husband, because who else would build a dollhouse for their daughters?” she wrote on a clip set of Olivia Deen’s “Man I Need.”
Schwarzenegger, 36, also lashed out at Pratt, 46, in the caption, writing, “If I had a golden retriever husband >>>.”
Although the New York Times bestselling author only expressed her gratitude for the Marvel star, her remarks made some critics uncomfortable.
“Wives and women can build dollhouses too,” one person wrote, while another added: “Women can do it too. We can buy our own houses and we can vote too! 😉.”
Others echoed the same statement, and a third voice joined in. “It’s great that he[built it]but to say ‘you’ll never understand’ is tone-deaf or passive-aggressive.”
Some fans defended Schwarzenegger, with one fan commenting, “She’s just appreciating her husband! It’s not a competition 😂.”
“This is amazing ❤️ Daddy created a special place that the girls will live and cherish 🏡❤️,” a second person wrote, while another child agreed: “Never forget.”
“Beautiful! And so sweet I can’t thank him enough,” gushed a fourth.
The couple, who married in 2019, have daughters Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, and son Ford, 1.
Pratt is also the father of a 13-year-old son, Jack, with ex-wife Anna Faris.
Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger often gives fans an inside look at his family life with Pratt and their children.
Most recently, she posted a photo dump for the month of March, sharing adorable snaps of her kids playing with farm animals and playing in the snow.
As for Pratt, he plans to occasionally post about family outings, like when he took Jack to the 2026 Super Bowl in February.
