Kate Beckinsale called out Mark Ruffalo after they were removed by their respective representatives for liking a post about the Gaza ceasefire.
“I’m glad my agent didn’t fire me for liking a post about the ceasefire and not supporting the murder of children,” Beckinsale wrote in a series of Instagram comments on Friday that have since been deleted, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The “Underworld” actress left her remarks under Ruffalo’s post promoting his new movie “Palestine 36.”
“I think it’s really important to have a penis in Hollywood because you haven’t been fired by the same agent as me and she sent me a gift the week before so there wasn’t any beef, but I… I liked your post about the ceasefire, so two days after the end of the strike where no one had any work at all for nine months, I was fired the same day Susan Sarandon was fired,” Beckinsale claimed, referring to the Screen Actors Guild. The strike lasted from July to November 2023.
The Van Helsing star went on to address the deaths of his mother, Judy Law, and stepfather, Roy Battersby, and explain his mental state at the time of his dismissal.
“In addition to being the caregiver for two people, my mother was given six weeks to live due to a brain tumor, I was also dealing with the fact that the day before, my stepfather had suffered a fatal stroke on top of two different types of cancer,” the actress said.
Mr Beckinsale added: “That led to his death and I was preparing to fly to England to bring him back to make sure he was well taken care of, but after 12 years of friendship with my agent and yours, I was fired with two sentences, very close to her elderly parents and who definitely knew what I was doing on my own.”
“I DMed you a few months ago and you ignored me,” the actress told the Marvel star.
She then responded to another Instagram user following her social media rant saying, “I’m okay with him ignoring me,” but pointed out the irony of their situation, which she felt was “a male prerogative even if he’s a good guy.”
“Obviously I didn’t get a response, and I’m a big supporter of Mark Ruffalo and everything he’s doing, but this is the only place I’ve ever gotten a response, and I don’t think I’ll ever get a response,” Beckinsale continued.
“I sent Mark a message a few months ago and he ignored it. There’s no reason for him to respond to it now,” she added, before clarifying: “I’m not blaming Mark for this either.”
Representatives for Beckinsale and Ruffalo did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
