“Queer Eye” resident cultural expert Karamo Brown declined interviews with multiple cast members on Tuesday. According to his assistant, the reason for his absence was because he felt “mentally and emotionally abused for many years” and feared bullying.
In a statement read live on “CBS Morning” by Gayle King to the rest of the “Queer Eye” cast, Brown said, “Thank you to everyone around the world for welcoming me into your home during season 10. Season 10 is amazing and I know I will fall in love with all the deserving people we helped. As the show ends, I want everyone to remember the main theme I’ve been trying to teach them over the past 10 years: focus on and protect their spirits.” I would like to thank the staff and management for believing in me for 10 seasons. ”
Mr. King also referred to a memo from Mr. Brown’s assistant regarding bullying. And on NBC, “Today” anchor Sheinelle Jones elaborated on the memo, saying an assistant wrote that “Karamo feels mentally and emotionally abused for years and has been advised by his therapist to protect himself and his peace by not attending.”
