JustWatch, the streaming guide and data-driven entertainment marketing company, has hired MUBI and HBO Max executive Quentin Carbonell for the newly created role of senior vice president of global content acquisition and strategy. Carbonell will help develop JustWatch’s future content initiatives and build global partnerships.
Carbonell has over 10 years of experience in content acquisition, licensing, and content marketing. As one of MUBI’s earliest executives, Carbonell led global content acquisitions and then joined WarnerMedia’s FilmStruck to lead content acquisitions, programming and curation. He then became head of EMEA streaming and content marketing planning for HBO Max, where he helped shape the company’s content marketing strategy across multiple launches and large-scale campaigns.
“After HBO, joining JustWatch is the most exciting evolution to work with a team driven by excellence that has relentlessly innovated over the past decade and developed amazing products used by tens of millions of users,” Carbonell said. “I look forward to leveraging my global content experience and passion to help shape JustWatch’s future in streaming alongside our amazing team, especially at a time of intense consolidation.”
“Quentin loves what he does, and that passion is a big part of why he’s been so successful across the industry,” said David Cloie, Founder and CEO of JustWatch. “This understanding makes him a key figure in shaping our international content strategy. His energy and perspective will be invaluable as we explore new content initiatives and partnerships that shape the next chapter of JustWatch.”
Mr. Carbonell’s new role is the latest addition to JustWatch’s international team, after the Berlin-based company hired John W. Gibbons as president of its North American division in September and announced plans to open its first office in the Los Angeles area.
