Justin Trudeau’s estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has shared a cryptic message about letting go of a love that “shouldn’t be kept” after she was spotted getting heated with Katy Perry.
“We become attached to people, places (and) even moments that once felt limitless, even though time asks us not to cling to them,” the former TV host shared in an Instagram video on Monday.
“I do, because I think it’s safer to hold on than to let go,” she continued. “But love was never about possession. It was always about being.”
Sophie, 50, believes that when people “let go” of what they “couldn’t keep,” this in turn creates space for “true connections, intimacy, memories… and lessons.”
“Grief lives there, too,” she added, explaining that the recent death of her father taught her that “grief also comes with grace.”
“So perhaps the deepest lesson of love…is to remain open in the face of impermanence,” she mused. “To honor what has come before and to let it go is also to keep it within us, believing that no amount of loss can erase it.”
The author of “Closer Together” encouraged her followers to take a breather and reflect on the person they had to let go of and how it “still lives in[their]hearts.”
“That is the patience of love,” she concluded. “That’s what keeps us going.”
Justin and Sophie, 53, announced they will be separating after 18 years of marriage in August 2023 after “many meaningful and difficult conversations.”
At the time, the couple shared plans to “remain a close family” as they share three children – Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrian, 11.
Justin has since moved on from his breakup with Perrie. The two were first spotted dating in July when they were photographed on a dinner date in Montreal.
The 40-year-old “Dark Horse” singer split from fiancé Orlando Bloom a month ago. The exes have been together for 10 years and continue to co-parent their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
Perrie and Justin turned up the heat during a romantic beach vacation in September.
The rumored couple were spotted passionately displaying PDA on the hitmaker’s yacht.
A source told The Sun that the pair have been secretly dating since the summer, but haven’t been able to spend much time together as the Teenage Dream singer continues to tour.
