Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has gone head-to-head with pop star Katy Perry.
“He’s crazy about her and thinks she’s the perfect woman,” the source said. “They relate to everything: politics, kids, French food.”
The unlikely pair made their first public appearance together this week at Paris’ famous cabaret Crazy Horse to celebrate Perry’s 41st birthday.
“They both have a spark in each other,” the source said.
The politician and “Dark Horse” singer first sparked romance rumors in July when they were spotted having dinner at Montreal’s chic Le Violon restaurant.
A few days later, Trudeau was seen watching Perry take the stage at the “Life Times” tour stop at the Bell Center in Montreal.
A source told People in August that Perry and Trudeau had an “instant connection.”
Earlier this month, the “Dark Horse” singer and Papineau’s former congressman were photographed cuddling on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
Prime Minister Trudeau resigned in January after serving as Canada’s prime minister for nearly a decade.
He separated from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire, in 2023.
“He’s sowing his oats all over again,” an association source previously told Page Six. “He is freed from the bonds of office and marriage.”
“I don’t think anyone who knows Justin is surprised that he dates a celebrity,” the source said. “It’s a reflection of his father. It’s in his DNA to do this.”
Former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, who died in 2000, dated a string of famous women, including Barbra Streisand and Kim Cattrall.
Sinan Ghobani, a Canadian columnist who has followed Trudeau for years, told Page Six earlier this month that “no one who knew Justin or has followed him for years thought he would just date a ‘civilian’ after becoming prime minister.”
“He’s inseparable from the spotlight and used to blending into a creamy set. I don’t think he really cares what people say about him because here in Canada he was getting slammed so unfairly, so often, so badly,” she said.
Perry split from her fiance Orlando Bloom this summer. The two, who have been dating for 10 years, confirmed their breakup in a joint statement.
The former couple have a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, who was born in August 2020.
Prime Minister Trudeau and his former wife Sophie have three children: Xavier (18), Ella-Grace (16) and Hadrian (11).
Representatives for both men could not be reached for comment.
